One guess. Just one. Come on, guess.
Our ladies of 2NE1 have had a damn fine 2009, spurring enough interest among fans to propel them to the top of the charts.
Whether or not you consider them fashionable, thanks to G-Dragon’s stylists, they’ve cultivated an image that is both eye-catching and adept to starting trends.
According to Sports Chosun, the girls’ sense of style has practically kick-started a revolution.
“2NE1’s style has a Improvisational new energy that you couldn’t see before in female entertainers. The expectancy is overturned with their mixture of prints and colors, with scaly leggings and avantgarde padded vests and matching lego block rings with humorous details and so high fashion’s boundaries are cleared away.”
“….because there’s style involved, Korea’s girl groups transforms in the history of their group. The typical girl group image is long haired, princess styled one-peice was taken off to debut a creative “pop” style…..From unique printed shirts, brightly colored leggings, to witty assecories that were renovated at the stage, 2NE1 is a visual sensation.”
“Pure and sexy, feminine and walking around free, the image for this year the most attention grabbing evolution has emerged in the form of an idol. With powerful addictive dance and rap that has color, each of the 4 members, 4 people, 4 colors as individuals have different charms. Colorful leggings, printed t-shirts, lego toy necklaces and so on, shown through their random creative and eccentric fashion styling and being curious about their next move is only normal.”
A bit hyperbolic to be sure, but I’d being lying if I said I never saw an item or accessory on one of the girls and thought, “that’s pretty cool.”
For those of you longing for the 2NE1’s threads, check out very cool site Eiffel In Seoul. It’s a great resource for those looking for the source of the style, and is an interesting compilation of k-pop’s prominent fashions.
